As summer kicks off and travel increases, the Palatine Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation to remind motorists to Click It or Ticket. The national seat belt enforcement campaign will take place May 15 through May 30, concurrent with one of the busiest travel and holiday weekends of the year. On April 29th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Palatine Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Mar 24, 2017 Palatine Police (Operation Lifesaver)
On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, Palatine Police officers will join a team of Metra Safety Department personnel and Metra Police to engage commuters at the Palatine Train Station by handing out printed education materials explaining the importance of obeying railroad crossing warning devices and discussing general railroad safety. The Palatine Police Department conducted both day and night enforcement from March 17, 2017, through March 20, 2017, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired during the “Click it or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” mobilization. The Palatine Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers. Jan 17, 2017 Press Release (Police Department)
On January 12, 2017, just after 11:00am, Palatine Police Officers responded to the Mobil Gas Station located at 7 North Northwest Highway for a report of an armed robbery. The employee at the gas station stated that a male subject entered the gas station armed with a handgun and demanded money. The offender took United States Currency and a carton of cigarettes during the robbery. The employee gave a description of the offender who was last seen walking Eastbound from behind the gas station. While checking the immediate area, Palatine Police Officers located a male subject who matched the offender’s description. Upon making contact with the subject, officers observed a handgun sticking out from the subject’s pants pocket. The subject was also found to be in possession of a large amount of money and a carton of cigarettes. The gas station employee positively identified the subject as the offender. The offender was arrested and brought to the Palatine Police Headquarters. Read More
Jan 17, 2017 Press Release (Police Department)
On January 11, 2017, just after 7:30pm, Palatine Police Officers attempted to stop a yellow Dodge Caliber in the 1400 block of East Dundee Road for a traffic violation. Officers were able to identify the driver of the vehicle as a 17-year old Palatine resident. The vehicle failed to stop, and began to actively flee from the officers. While fleeing from the officers, the driver committed multiple traffic violations. In addition, officers observed passengers discarding items out of the vehicle’s window. The vehicle was last seen traveling Southbound on Illinois State Route 53 from Dundee Road. Palatine Police Officers were able to recover the items thrown from the vehicle.
