IRS Telephone Scam
On September 19, 2016, the Palatine Police Department responded to the 200 block of N. Smith St. for a fraud report. The female victim stated that earlier in the evening, she received a call from an unknown male subject claiming to be with the “IRS”. The subject told the victim that she owed the IRS over $12,000.00 and he had a warrant for her arrest if she did not make payment for what was owed. The subject agreed to accept whatever payment the victim could afford. The victim followed the subject’s instructions and went to a local retail store and purchased $8,000.00 worth of gift cards. After the purchase, the victim placed the gifts cards in a nearby mailbox to be mailed to an address in Washington D.C.

Residents Can Now Report Concerns Regarding O'Hare Runway Noise
The O’Hare Noise Compatibility Commission (ONCC) recently implemented a Fly Quiet Runway Rotation Plan, which will test out a weekly runway rotation program during overnight hours in an attempt to achieve a more balanced distribution of jet noise exposure for Chicago and other highly impacted communities that surround O’Hare. This plan was implemented despite strong opposition by the Village of Palatine as well as Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Rolling Meadows, and Hoffman Estates.
The ONCC has established a system for tracking concerns and other feedback related to the Fly Quiet Plan which can be accessed through the following link:
