New Parking Payment System
In an effort to modernize our system and address requests from commuters, the Village of Palatine will be introducing a new commuter parking payment system this November. The new system will utilize license plate recognition for enforcement purposes (thus eliminating the use of hang tags for permit users and parking space numbers for daily fee payment). Chicago Seeking Input on O'Hare Fly Quiet Program
Many residents may have noticed a change in airplane noise over Palatine, particularly during overnight hours. These changes are a result of O’Hare undertaking what is called a Fly Quiet Program where the runways in use overnight are rotated on a weekly basis.
The Village of Palatine voted against this rotational plan as the prior changes had significantly reduced air traffic over our community. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of the vote and thus the implementation of the rotational runway plan.
The Chicago Department of Aviation is now looking for feedback as part of making a determination if the plan should continue past the end of the year. They are asking residents to complete a short survey which can be found by clicking HERE
