Building Permits & Inspections
Building Permits & Inspections is a division of Community Services. They review all permit applications to see that they meet the requirements and codes adopted by the Village. They are responsible for inspecting at the determined intervals, the construction as described in the permit to verify that it is built according to the approved plans. They also coordinate feedback from all departments and maintain all records associated with the permit from application to occupancy.
For smaller residential projects specifically listed. Our goal is to have these reviewed in 3 business days. Click on above link to access permit applications and forms.
For larger projects, permanent signs, new homes or additions and all commercial and multi-family projects. Our goal is to have these reviewed in 10 business days. Pre-Submittal meetings are required. Please call (847) 359-9042 to schedule an appointment. Click on above link to access applications and forms.
All permanent signs require building permits including "face changes". All signs are regulated by the
Planning and Zoning Department. The building permit submittal requirements can be found by clicking the link above.
The time to schedule a Pre-Submittal meeting is when you are ready to submit for a permit. The Permit Control Coordinator will review the required drawings/specifications and permit application to determine if they meet the requirements needed for permit submittal. If the drawings/specifications and application meet the requirements, the application will be accepted for review. If the drawings/specifications and application are not complete, a list of required items for the permit submittal will be provided to you. A new appointment may be required based on the missing items.
Please refer to the
