Start Sorting Today For Spring Clean-Up Week
Friday, May 2nd through Wednesday, May 7th, 2014

Residents looking to de-clutter and get organized this season may want to take advantage of Palatine’s annual Spring Clean-Up Friday, May 2nd through Wednesday, May 7th, 2014.

During this time garbage bags and other refuse items may be placed at the curb throughout the weekend in advance of scheduled collection days without ordinance violations. Refuse will be collected only on the regular collection day.

All refuse placed at the curb must be prepared according to standard specifications.  See the Refuse, Yard Waste and Recycling Program Complete Reference Guide for further information.

Prohibited items include appliances, electronic waste, tires, paints and household chemical waste. One bulk item (too large to be bagged) may be placed at the curb.   Examples of bulk items include mattress and box spring, sofa, furniture, barbeque grill, lawn mower, snow blower (gas and propane tanks must be removed), bicycle and exercise equipment. Construction debris must be properly bundled and is limited to a maximum volume of two cubic yards.

For a useful resource on recycling and reuse alternatives visit the Soild Waste Agency of Northern Cook County's Green Pages Directory at http://www.swancc.org/index.php/resources/recycling-and-reuse-directory
