Open House

Our popular live burn demonstrations show firefighting techniques, and demonstrate the effectiveness of automatic sprinklers. For those who wonder what a fire truck looks like up close, how to use a fire extinguisher, or what a fire station looks like can join the members of the Palatine Fire Department at our Annual Fire Department Open House.

At this event, families can take a tour of the fire station, get up close with the equipment used to keep the citizens of Palatine safe, and take part in numerous fun and exciting activities like spraying a fire hose and using a fire extinguisher. This is a great opportunity to meet your local firefighters, witness live educational demonstrations, and to learn more about the services the department offers the community.

Support agencies such as the Palatine Police Department, NICOR, ComEd, Northwest Community Hospital, St. Alexis Medical Center, Northwest Central Dispatch, and Palatine Emergency Management Agency are also among frequent contributors to this annual event.

The Annual Fire Department Open House, generally held on the first Saturday in October from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, is an event the entire community will enjoy while learning valuable fire safety tips. We look forward to seeing you there.

Vehicle Extrication demonstrations are a popular feature of the event.  It's never too early to learn fire safety, such as the proper way to use a fire extinguisher.
