Our popular live burn demonstrations show firefighting techniques, and demonstrate the effectiveness of automatic sprinklers.The Palatine Fire Department hosted its annual Open House on Saturday October 4, 2014 at Station 84, 220 W. Illinois Ave. The Open House showcased the various activities of the Fire Department and included apparatus displays, station tours, and displays by various special teams. Our own "Mr. Wizard" fire science demonstration, vehicle extrication demonstration, and a live burn were some of the highlights of the day. The Palatine Emergency Management and Community Emergency Response Teams, Flight For Life helicopter, local hospitals, and other community organizations were also on display for the public.  

We typically have our open house on the first Saturday of October.  Watch this web site for updates when we finalize the plans for this year, then come join us for a fun-filled day the whole family can enjoy!

Vehicle Extrication demonstrations are a popular feature of the event.

The Hazardous Materials Team displays its special equipment.  All Palatine Fire Department special teams have displays at the Open House.

It's never too early to learn fire safety, such as the proper way to use a fire extinguisher.

There are plenty of "hands-on" demonstations for young and old alike!There are lots of kid's activities, including the chance to operate a fire hose!Learn about the science of fire from "Mr. Wizard".
