Message from the Chief
Welcome to the Palatine Police Department's home page. We hope you are able to find many useful tools here. Please feel free to navigate through the main village and police pages to learn more about Palatine and what it has to offer. The Palatine Police Department is comprised of 110 sworn officers and 35 civilian personnel.
We are most proud of our NBP Program (Neighborhood Based Policing). Our NBP Program divides the Village into seven different patrol beats where a Sergeant oversees personnel permanently assigned to these beats. This allows for proactive efforts as the officers are familiar with all the issues within their geographical beat. We encourage all residents to become familiar with who their Beat Sergeant is and contact them with questions or concerns beyond immediate response needs. Should a resident need a police officer for any reason whether it is a simple service call or emergency, you are to call 911. Many people are reluctant to call 911 for simple service calls such as a barking dog, parking complaint etc. and believe 911 is only for emergencies. Here at Palatine as well as surrounding communities it is simpler than that. If you need a police response, call 911.
The Department contains many specialty positions. Those officers have received a significant amount of training in their specialties such as K-9, Field Training Officer, Accident Reconstructionist, Crime Scene Technicians, Bicycle Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, Juvenile Officer, Criminal Investigator, Gang Crimes Investigator and Tactical Officer. We are also involved in numerous Mutual Aid partnerships with our area law enforcement partners. We are members of ILEAS (Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System), NIPAS (Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team and Field Force), MCAT (Major Case Assistance Team), RCFL (Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory), and HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Traffic Awareness). We have committed much of our staff to these partnerships because they are professional organizations that can assist us greatly in major incidents and investigations.
For those interested in a career in law enforcement, please check the "Employment" link, we are always looking for qualified candidates who still believe law enforcement is a calling. The Palatine Police Department is composed of men and women who believe serving and protecting is our most important goal. We will continue to strive to achieve these goals for the residents of Palatine.
