Greetings from Police Beat 8100. My name is Tim Sharkey, the Beat Sergeant
of 8100. I was hired by the Palatine Police Department in 1996 and have been assigned as the team leader in 8100 since June of 2008. My career has been spent as a patrol officer and as a tactical officer in the investigations unit. I am currently assigned as an afternoon watch supervisor, my shift begins at 1:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m.
Your police beat 8100 is located on the south side of Palatine. It is bordered by Palatine Road to the north and extends south to the village limits. It stretches east to west from Hicks Road to Roselle Road. and covers portions of council districts 1, 2 and 6.
This beat is primarily residential and our focus is to ensure our resident's safety and quality of life. 8100 officers strive to
ensure the safety of the beat's many school children and have received additional training in school safety measures. Beat officers constantly conduct mock safety drills at the many schools.
The officers assigned to beat 8100 have over one-hundred combined years of service with the Palatine Police Department. Their experience includes assignments to the investigations division, auto theft task force, crime scene technician, hostage negotiations, regional narcotics task force, school resource officers, school safety officers and detachments to Federal law Enforcement Agencies.
