Welcome to Police Beat 8110. I am Sergeant Bill Nord, your contact supervisor for this beat. I have been a police officer since 1997 and was promoted Sergeant Bill Nordto Sergeant in 2014. I am currently part of the supervisory staff on evening shift (1:30PM until 9:30PM) and proud to serve the citizens and businesses in this great Village.

Beat 8110 encompasses residential communities as well as many businesses along Northwest Highway and the downtown area. The hometown feel of the Village of Palatine is well demonstrated throughout the beat with the businesses and shops, the train station, the Fourth of July parade, Street Fest and the beautiful homes lining the streets. It is our mission to preserve the peace and community feel of Palatine by providing professional police services to this beat. The 8110 Beat officers and I strive to serve the residentPalatine Police "Rhino"s and businesses in any way we can and know these efforts allow our officers to feel more connected to the community.

Officers assigned to the 8110 beat utilize an All-Terrain Vehicle downtown in an effort to be more visible in the business district.  This affords the officer the ability to meet with local business owners and patrons while providing a more personalized police service.  This vehicle can be driven off-road and used to patrol areas that cannot be reached by a traditional police car.

In addition to regular patrol responsibilities and traffic enforcement, beat officers have focused much of their efforts on pedestrian safety around the train station. Now that parking and accessibility have improved with theVillage Of Palatine Train Station new station, Palatine is becoming a much busier destination to take the Metra Train to and from the City of Chicago. With the increase in riders we feel the need to educate the public on train safety and often physically monitor the pedestrian foot traffic near the tracks. This also allows officers to greet residents and visitors and let them know we are always available if needed.

It takes an entire community to keep our Village peaceful and safe and I encourage those involved in any aspect of beat 8110 to join me in attending neighborhood meetings with Councilman Brad Helms.  If you have questions or need to contact me you may do so by using the email link under the beat map or calling me at 847-359-9000.
