Uniformed Tactical Unit

Also serving the citizens of Palatine is the Uniformed Tactical Unit.  In this unit there are four patrol officers and a K9 officers that work between the hours of 7pm and 3am.  These officers are not assigned a traditional beat; rather they are city wide units that are responsible for following crime patterns and getting out on foot in search of the criminal element.  Their addition to manpower during our peak operating times also allows the department to maintain a strong presence in the areas of town that are busiest.  The Uniformed Tactical Unit acts on tips from the public as well as information they generate when it comes to matters such as narcotic activity, juvenile nuisances, criminal activity and any other quality of life issue within the village.  Uniformed Tactical is a very active unit in the department and they respond anywhere in the village when issues develop, criminal trends are recognized or where the beat officers need extra assistance.  This unit has been in place for several years now and has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success.
