Street Signs

Home > Public Works > Street Division > Street Signs

Street signs are vital directional guideposts. Unfortunately, they are also favorite targets of vandals and pranksters. If you notice a missing or vandalized street sign, please call the Department of Public Works to report its location. Missing STOP signs are considered an emergency and are replaced immediately. Please call us as soon as possible to report a missing STOP sign.

To Add or Not To Add Signs.

Residents occasionally call to request that a STOP sign, YIELD sign, or other traffic signs be added in a particular location. In order to have a request for additional traffic signage or a change in signage considered, a petition with the signatures of a majority of the residents must be submitted. Each request for additional traffic signage is studied and evaluated on the basis of need and effectiveness by the Traffic Engineering Committee. Their recommendation is then forwarded to the Village Council for final approval or denial.
