District 1-Aaron B. Del Mar
Background Information
In September of 1978, Aaron B. Del Mar was born as an only child to Vic & Betty Del Mar and was raised in Palatine, Illinois. A product of District15 & 211 schools (Sanborn & Sundling), Aaron graduated from Palatine High School in 1996. During his high school career, Aaron was very involved in athletics, making the varsity wrestling team, earning All-State honors, and setting several school records, some of which still stand today. Upon high school graduation, Aaron earned a scholarship to Indiana University-Bloomington and earned a degree in Public Management from the nationally ranked school of Public and Environmental Affairs. During his time at Indiana University, Aaron was a varsity letter winner in wrestling as a true freshman, a three-time Judo All-American and a member of the 2000 University World Judo Team.
Before returning back to his hometown of Palatine, Del Mar spent many years after college as a resident athlete-in-training in Judo at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Del Mar competed internationally representing the United States in overseas competitions. During his time at the Olympic Training Center he was nationally ranked in the top ten while training for the 2000 and 2004 U.S. Judo Olympic Team.
With his fierce competition in both sports and businesses, Del Mar created a new business with a focus in promotions and marketing called Articulate Promotions, Inc. (AP). Since then, AP has grown exponentially and is now located in Palatine. Articulate Promotions has organized many community-based events in Palatine including the Halloween Hustle 5k Run/Walk benefiting Fathers Helping Fathers (FHF). FHF is a national not-for-profit organization which, Aaron started and founded after dealing with a custody case for his son. Fathers Helping Fathers is dedicated to helping fathers' rights in the area of parenting and to raising awareness about the positive influence committed fathers have on the development of their children. Del Mar also founded a successful retail jewelry store called Exquisite Jewelers located on the corner of Rand and Dundee in Palatine, and Chicagoland Office Solutions, a office furniture installation company.
Most importantly, Del Mar puts family first. Aaron is married to Jennifer Del Mar, a Marketing Manager at Sears Holding Corporation in Hoffman Estates. They currently reside a block away from his parents and where Aaron grew up, and have three beautiful children, Konnor,6, Aaron Jr. (AJ), 3, and Isabella, ten-months-old.

2nd Annual District 1 Picnic
I will be hosting the 2nd Annual District 1 Picnic on August 8 from Noon to 5 pm, located at Hummingbird Park, 1225 N. Palos Ave., . This fun-filled day will provide an opportunity for District 1 families, both old and new, to enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon with music, plenty of food and exciting activities.
There will be of plenty of food and drinks, but you are more than welcome to make your favorite homemade dish, appetizer, or dessert to share with your neighbors.
Last year, we had an awesome turn out and it was a great experience for all who attended. Hummingbird Park was the perfect setting for people to have fun but also relax and enjoy each other’s company. I encourage you to attend this year and help make it just as memorable as it was last year!
