September 28, 2013 marks the 20th anniversary of National Public Lands Day. All across America, more than 175,000 volunteers are expected to visit their favorite parks, beaches, wildlife preserves and forests to help improve these natural areas. Palatine Park District’s Environmental Committee is hosting a National Public Lands Day event at Margreth Riemer Reservoir, located at Quentin and Wood Streets in Palatine, from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Community members are invited to come to Margreth Riemer Reservoir to help clean up debris and brush at the park. This event is perfect for individuals, scout troops, community groups, business groups, service groups, school groups, families, and those needing to complete service hours. Available shifts are: 9:00am to 12:00pm, 9:00am to 10:30am, and 10:30am to 12:00pm.
