Palatine, IL – Historically, Thanksgiving is the busiest travel time of the year, putting more people on the road and increasing the likelihood of crashes. Each year in our country, tens of thousands of passenger vehicle occupants die in motor vehicle crashes. As families travel to celebrate Thanksgiving, it’s crucial to remember to buckle up and not drive impaired. The Illinois Department of Transportation reports that 17 roadway deaths occurred in Illinois over the 2015 holiday weekend. Many deaths and injuries could have been prevented with the click of a seat belt or the choice to designate a sober driver. Read More

In an effort to modernize our system and address requests from commuters, the Village of Palatine will be introducing a new commuter parking payment system this November. The new system will address payment for commuters that utilize permit and daily fee parking. The new system will utilize license plate recognition for enforcement purposes (thus eliminating the use of hang tags for permit users and parking space numbers for daily fee payment). Sep 21, 2016 IRS Telephone Scam
On September 19, 2016, the Palatine Police Department responded to the 200 block of N. Smith St. for a fraud report. The female victim stated that earlier in the evening, she received a call from an unknown male subject claiming to be with the “IRS”. The subject told the victim that she owed the IRS over $12,000.00 and he had a warrant for her arrest if she did not make payment for what was owed. The subject agreed to accept whatever payment the victim could afford. The victim followed the subject’s instructions and went to a local retail store and purchased $8,000.00 worth of gift cards. After the purchase, the victim placed the gifts cards in a nearby mailbox to be mailed to an address in Washington D.C. Read More

The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to making our roadways the safest they can be. To strengthen that effort, the Palatine Police Department joined forces with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state in the Illinois Labor Day Traffic Safety crackdown. The crackdown, part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns, was made possible by federal highway safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation. The focus of this campaign was to get intoxicated motorists off the roads and make sure vehicle occupants were kept safe through the enforcement of seat belt and child restraint use. Read More

Jan 07, 2016 Palatine Police Department Releases Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown Results
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to making our roadways the safest they can be. To strengthen that effort, the Palatine Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in their Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown. Through a traffic safety grant, IDOT supplied funds to increase the number of uniformed Palatine Police officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws from December 18, 2015 to January 3, 2016. The focus of this campaign was to get intoxicated motorists off the roads and make sure vehicle occupants were kept safe through the enforcement of seat belt use. Read More
