The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through aggressive traffic enforcement measures. With the assistance of grant funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we will be participating in the Super Bowl Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown. During the next couple of weeks, the Palatine Police Department will be saturating the roadways with officers focused on motorists driving impaired, not wearing seat belts, and speeding. These violations have proven to be the greatest contributing factors in serious injury and fatal motor vehicle crashes on our roadways.
In addition to the dedicated saturation patrols, the Palatine Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check on January 28th, in the area of Algonquin and Roselle Roads. The Roadside Safety Check will take place in the late evening through early morning hours. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the midnight to 3:00 am timeframe is the deadliest time on Illinois roads. This timeframe also has the lowest occupant restraint use in motor vehicle fatalities.
Should you be a witness to erratic or impaired driving, please call 9-1-1. We all have a responsibility in working together to make our roadways the safest they can be!
