Palatine Road Work Will Resume In March
February 28, 2011
Palatine Road construction—nearly 70 percent complete—will resume in March. Last summer, labor issues and unexpected utility glitches delayed the $11.7 million project, funded by the Federal Highway Authority and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, for several weeks.
When work resumes, residents can expect two-way traffic on Palatine Road to be shifted onto the new south-side pavement from Smith Street to Plum Grove Road while crews reconstruct the road’s north side. Two-way traffic will be maintained from Smith Street to Plum Grove Road.
Eastbound traffic on Palatine Road, from Plum Grove Road to Northwest Highway, will be detoured at Plum Grove Road to Colfax Street. From Plum Grove Road to Kerwood Street, westbound traffic will be moved to the newly constructed westbound lane while crews work on the road’s south side.
Drivers are cautioned to be alert at all times since lane widths will be reduced.
Crews are expected to place the final surface lift of hot mix asphalt on the entire project, complete traffic signals, finish roadway lighting, and stripe the final lane configuration by mid-2011.
