The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through diligent traffic enforcement. With the assistance of grant funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we are participating in the St. Patrick’s Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign. During this traffic safety campaign, the Palatine Police Department will be saturating the roadways with officers looking for impaired drivers, vehicle occupants choosing not use safety restraints, and speeding violations. These are found to be the greatest contributing factors in serious injury and fatal motor vehicle crashes.
In addition, the Palatine Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check on March 18th in the area of Algonquin and Roselle Roads. The Roadside Safety Check will take place in the late evening through early morning hours. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the midnight to 3:00 am timeframe is the deadliest time on Illinois roads. These hours have also shown the lowest occupant restraint use where motor vehicle fatalities have occurred.
Should you observe erratic or impaired driving, please call 9-1-1. Lets all do our part to make our roadways the safest they can be.
