“Click it or Ticket” “You Drink & You Drive, You Lose”

May 20, 2011
Click it or Ticket

The Illinois Department of Transportation is promoting safe driving through its “Click It or Ticket” and “You Drink and Drive, You Lose” Memorial Day Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign. The Palatine Police Department fully supports IDOT in their effort. Utilizing grant funding distributed through IDOT, uniformed Palatine Police officers will be out on our roadways strictly enforcing traffic violations relating to safety restraint, speeding, and motorists driving under the influence of alcohol throughout the Memorial Day Holiday. Much of the enforcement will consist of uniformed officers in marked patrol vehicles on dedicated saturation patrols. Additionally, the police department will initiate Safety Belt Enforcement Zones throughout Palatine to enforce seat belt use. Enforcement will be conducted predominantly during the late night/early morning as research shows that between the hours of 11:00 pm and 6:00 am, we suffer the most serious traffic accidents due to impaired driving, speeding, and the failure of vehicle occupants to wear safety belts.

The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to making our roadways safer. Please do your part by driving responsibly and calling 9-1-1 to report unsafe or erratic driving.
