Comprehensive Plan Public Review and Comments
July 27, 2011
The draft of the Village of Palatine’s Comprehensive Plan has been completed. The Village is seeking public comments prior to the adoption of the plan. Comments must be submitted by Wednesday, August 31.
The Comprehensive Plan is the basis for the Village’s development regulations. The future land use plan defines the desired land use categories that are subsequently regulated by the development standards pertaining to specific zoning districts. It provides a set of polices that can facilitate a coordinated approach to decisions regarding land use, transportation, economic development, community facilities, environmental sustainability, and urban design. It serves as a guide for elected and appointed officials as they consider new program initiatives or review development proposals before them. It also conveys the Village’s development philosophy and intent to other communities and regional service providers.
