"Click it or Ticket” “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”
May 11, 2012
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through aggressive traffic enforcement measures. With the assistance of grant funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we will be participating in the Memorial Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown from May 11 through May 28, 2012.
Much of this enforcement will consist of uniformed officers in marked patrol vehicles on dedicated saturation patrols focusing on DUI and seatbelt enforcement. Additionally, the police department will initiate eight Safety Belt Enforcement Zones (SBEZ’s) throughout Palatine to enforce seat belt use. Enforcement will be conducted predominantly during the late night/early morning as research shows that between the hours of 11:00 pm and 6:00 am, we suffer the most serious traffic accidents due to impaired driving, speeding, and the failure of vehicle occupants to wear safety belts.
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to making our roadways safer. Please do your part by driving responsibly and calling 9-1-1 to report unsafe or erratic driving.
