Memorial Day Holiday Enforcement Results
May 29, 2012
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to making our roadways the safest they can be. To strengthen that effort, the Palatine Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation in their Memorial Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown. Through a traffic safety grant, IDOT supplied funds to increase the number of uniformed Palatine Police officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws over the Memorial Day holiday. The focus of this campaign was to get intoxicated motorists off the roads, reduce speeding, and make sure vehicle occupants are kept safe through the enforcement of seat belt and child restraint use.
Through the holiday, Palatine Police uniformed officers hit the streets on dedicated traffic enforcement saturation patrols and Seat Belt Enforcement Zones. These saturation patrols and SBEZ’s emphasized the hours of 11:00 pm to 4:00 am, which have proven to be the deadliest on Illinois roadways.
The following is a summary of the results for this campaign:
Driving Under the Influence – 4 arrests
Seatbelt Violations – 73 tickets
Child Safety Restraint Violations – 3 tickets
Speeding – 13 tickets
Suspended/Revoked/No Valid Drivers License – 1 arrest
No Insurance – 7 tickets
Open Alcohol in Vehicle – 1 ticket
All Other Registration/Moving/Equipment Violations – 20 tickets
Warrants – 1 arrest
