"Click it or Ticket” “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”

December 17, 2012

The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through proactive traffic enforcement measures.  With the assistance of grant funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we will be participating in the Christmas/New Years Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign.  Through January 1, 2013, the Palatine Police Department will be saturating the roadways with officers looking for impaired driving, occupant protection, and speeding violations.  These are found to be the greatest contributing factors in serious injury and fatal motor vehicle crashes.

In addition, the Palatine Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check from the late evening hours on December 21st through the early morning hours on December 22nd in the area of Algonquin and Roselle Roads.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the midnight to 3:00 am timeframe is the deadliest time on Illinois roads.  This timeframe also has the lowest occupant restraint use involving motor vehicle fatalities.

Should you be a witness to erratic or impaired driving, please call 9-1-1.  Lets all work together to make our roadways the safest ever this holiday season!
