Thanksgiving Campaign Results

December 2, 2013
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways the safest they can be.  To strengthen that effort, the Palatine Police Department once again partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation in their Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign.  Through a traffic safety grant, IDOT supplied funds to increase the number of uniformed Palatine Police officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws over the Thanksgiving Holiday.  The primary focus of the officers working this campaign was to make sure vehicle occupants are kept safe through the strict enforcement of seat belt use.

To accomplish this task, these officers set up six Safety Belt Enforcement Zones throughout the Village to identify drivers and passengers not properly wearing seat belts.  The following is a summary of the results for our Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign:

Seatbelt Violations – 62 tickets issued
Child Safety Restraint Violations – 2 tickets issued
Speeding – 17 tickets issued
No Insurance – 10 tickets issued
DUI – 2 arrests
Suspended Driver’s License – 1 arrest
All Other Traffic Violations – 11 tickets
