Palatine Police Join Forces with Agencies Statewide for 2016 Illinois Speed Awareness Day Campaign Palatine, IL – During Illinois Speed Awareness Day this July 27th, the Palatine Police Department is taking a proactive approach to promote safety for motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists through both education and enforcement. In Illinois during 2014, speed was the reason for 32.4% of all traffic fatalities. That’s 348 deaths for the year, or one life every 25 hours. Residents and small business owners who participate in the Northwest Aggregation Consortium will pay more for electricity beginning in July of 2016. Constellation Energy, the electricity supplier for the consortium, is expected to send a letter to customers in mid-April notifying them of rate increases. Jan 07, 2016 Palatine Police Department Releases Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown Results
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to making our roadways the safest they can be. To strengthen that effort, the Palatine Police Department partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) in their Christmas and New Year’s Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown. Through a traffic safety grant, IDOT supplied funds to increase the number of uniformed Palatine Police officers on the roadways enforcing traffic laws from December 18, 2015 to January 3, 2016. The focus of this campaign was to get intoxicated motorists off the roads and make sure vehicle occupants were kept safe through the enforcement of seat belt use. Read More
