“Click it or Ticket” “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”
November 18, 2013
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways the safest they can be. This Thanksgiving Holiday, with grant funding supplied by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we will put extra uniformed police officers on the streets from November 18th through December 1st.
Research shows that between 11:00 pm and 3:00 am, we suffer the most serious traffic accidents due to impaired driving, speeding, and the failure of vehicle occupants to wear safety belts. With this grant funding provided through IDOT, the Palatine Police Department will institute uniformed saturation patrols dedicated to identifying and arresting impaired drivers, as well as strictly enforcing speeding and safety restraint violations. Additionally, the Palatine Police Department will set up six Safety Belt Enforcement Zones (SBEZ’s) throughout Palatine during this campaign specifically to focus on enforcement of seat belt use.
