"Click it or Ticket" "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" Campaign
August 15, 2014
The Palatine Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through aggressive traffic enforcement measures. With grant funding provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation, we are participating in the Labor Day Holiday Traffic Safety Crackdown. From August 15th through September 1st, we are saturating the roadways with extra officers focusing on impaired drivers and occupant protection. These are found to be the greatest contributing factors in serious injury and fatal motor vehicle crashes throughout Illinois.
Palatine Police officers are hitting the streets looking for those individuals who drive impaired, drive recklessly, and/or fail to wear safety belts. In addition to saturation patrols, the Palatine Police Department will be conducting a Roadside Safety Check late Friday night, August 22nd into the early morning hours of Saturday August 23rd. The Roadside Safety Check will take place near the intersection of Algonquin and Roselle Roads. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the midnight to 3:00 AM time frame is the deadliest on Illinois roads. This time frame also has the lowest occupant restraint use involving motor vehicle fatalities.
Should you witness erratic or impaired driving, please call 9-1-1. Let’s all do our part to make Illinois roadways the safest ever this Labor Day Holiday!
