REFUSE & RECYCLING COLLECTION INFORMATION

Effective January 1, 2020, Groot will be providing the following services to single-family and townhome residents that are billed for waste collection by the Village of Palatine:

White Goods

White goods collection by Groot will be subject to a $20 charge payable in advance to Groot. White goods are collected each Wednesday. White goods include refrigerators, ranges, water heaters, freezers, air conditioners, humidifiers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, ovens, furnaces, dehumidifiers, water softeners, trash compactors, microwaves ovens and other similar large domestic appliances.

Electronic Waste

Electronic waste collection by Groot will be subject to a $20 charge payable in advance to Groot. This includes the collection of up to 5 items, including televisions (under 50 pounds). Televisions in excess of 50 pounds will require an additional charge of $50 per unit. Residents must contact Groot at least one 1 business day in advance of their regular service day to schedule collection. Electronic waste includes televisions, computers, keyboards, facsimile machines, recorders, digital music players, digital video disc players, video game consoles, small scale servers, scanners, electronic mice, digital convertors, cable receivers, satellite receivers, and digital video disc recorders. Refuse Carts

All refuse must be placed in refuse carts provided by Groot for weekly collection. Any requests to exchange the refuse cart size for a 65 or 35-gallon cart are subject to a $30 delivery fee payable in advance to Groot. Any additional refuse that does not fit in your cart may be bagged and placed next to, or on top of, your refuse cart. Please place refuse and recycling in the correct carts and do not place any carts in the street. Please note, refuse carts have black lids and recycling carts have either green or yellow lids.

Licensed Commercial Scavengers

The Village of Palatine requires that all persons, firms or corporations providing solid waste, recycling or scavenger services obtain a license to operate. The following is a list of companies that are currently licensed to operate and provide services for commercial, industrial and institutional properties in the Village of Palatine.
