The Buildings and Grounds Division is responsible for maintenance and repairs to all Village facilities, including the Village Hall, Police Headquarters, the five Fire Stations, and the Public Works Facility. Core responsibilities include maintaining all HVAC systems, repairing plumbing issues, coordinating janitorial and pest control services, performing snow and ice control for sidewalks adjacent to the facilities, and repairing elevators.
There are four signalized intersections where the Village maintains the traffic signals and pedestrian crosswalk signals. Buildings & Grounds inspects and coordinates repairs of the signals at the following locations:
All other signalized intersections fall under either State of Illinois (IDOT) or Cook County responsibility. For issues with any traffic or pedestrian signals, please contact the Public Works Department and we will notify the appropriate agency.
The Buildings & Grounds Division is also responsible for the Palatine Metra Train Station and Gateway Center Parking Deck. The Division maintains the warming shelters along the train platform, the elevators at the parking deck, and the parking meters, and repairs all electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and roof issues at both facilities.
To report issues with any of these buildings or traffic signals, please contact the Public Works Department at (847) 705-5200 or PublicWorks@palatine.il.us.
