SafeEncounter is a web-based platform for residents and caregivers to upload information about dependents who are prone to wander due to cognitive disorders. Only Palatine Police Department personnel have access to these records for use in the field to help identify and locate lost people who cannot identify themselves.
If someone in your charge has any conditions such as the ones listed below, please consider registering them with SafeEncounter:
- Alzheimer's
- ADHD
- Asperger's
- Autism
- Blindness
- Cerebral Palsy
- Cognitive Disability
- Deafness
- Dementia
- Developmental Disability
- Down Syndrome
- Epilepsy
- Psychiatric Disability
When submitting a dependent record, you will be prompted to upload a picture and enter vital contact information for both the dependent and for the person who should be contacted when located. Once the record is submitted, Palatine Police personnel will review the record for approval into the database. Approved records can be updated at anytime. If you have any questions, please contact our Crime Prevention Unit by calling 847-359-9061 or emailing safeencounter@palatine.il.us
