  3. Electronics Recycling & Document Destruction Event

    July 20, 2019, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

    The Village of Palatine, Palatine Park District, and Harper College are partnering with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) to host an Electronics Recycling and Document Destruction Event. The event will be held on Saturday, July 20 from 9 AM to 12 PM. The event will be located at Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in the parking lot. All vehicles must use the Euclid Avenue entrance only and follow the signs provided. No vehicles will be allowed to enter the event line after 12:00 PM. Participants must be in a vehicle to drop off materials and no walk-ups will be allowed. Residents from Palatine and other SWANCC communities are eligible to participate. IDs will be checked for verification of residency in a SWANCC member community. Materials will not be accepted from non-SWANCC residents, businesses, schools or institutions.

On Sunday, July 28, from 2 - 4 PM, the Society is hosting a Victorian Garden Party. A program about Victorian-era gardening will be presented by Master Gardener Holly Petersen.   7. How To File A Property Tax Appeal With The Cook County Assessor

    July 30, 2019, 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM

    Palatine Township residents can learn how you can file a property tax appeal and learn more about property tax exemptions and the appeal process at an upcoming seminar. Representatives from The Cook County Assessor’s Office, along with Palatine Township Assessor Terry Kelly, will present all the information needed to file an appeal on Tuesday, July 30th at 7 PM. The seminar will be held at Cutting Hall, 150 E. Wood Street, in Palatine. For those wanting to file a property tax appeal, all of the necessary forms to file will be made available at this event. “2019 is a reassessment year for Palatine Township residents,” Assessor Kelly noted. “The new values placed on your property is what can be appealed,” Kelly added. Area residents are invited to bring questions along with their property tax bills and learn what can be done to potentially reduce property taxes.
