The Palatine Fire Department has two groups of members who provide specific services at planned events. These members fill visible roles in the public eye, and help us be the professional organization we are.
Bike Medic Team
First, our department maintains a Bike Medic Team. This team is primarily used to provide paramedic coverage at large public events such as Street Fest, the carnival, and the like. On-duty team members (with their bikes) can also be requested for specific incidents that would require an off-road response, for example an injured hiker or biker on a remote trail in Deer Grove Forest Preserve.
Honor Guard
We also have a ceremonial group, our Honor Guard. This group preserves the traditions of the fire service, and adds immensely to events such as our annual remembrance ceremonies for our members killed in the line of duty and our 9/11 ceremony. These members have also received special training on drill and ceremony.
