Once an application has been deemed complete, requests processed through the Zoning Board of Appeals often take between 6-8 weeks to review and proceed through the all the public hearings. Projects processed through the Plan Commission typically take longer and time frames are based on the size and complexity of the request.
When a decision is made by the Village Council, an Ordinance for the request is created and signed into law by the Mayor. All approved applications then pass on to the building department to ensure all approved requests are reflected in the final building plans, if applicable. Below is a chart illustrating the Village of Palatine’s Planning and Zoning request process.
Please review the Instruction Packets for both the Zoning Board of Appeals and Plan Commission for additional details regarding application submittals, staff review, public notice, public hearing and the Village Council.
