The Palatine Police Department members along with other village employees have been participating in the Toys for Tots program since 1999. Each year, raffle tickets are sold throughout the village to raise money for this worthy cause. Raffle prizes are donated by the Police and Fire Benevolent Funds and the Fraternal Order of Police. The money raised through raffle ticket sales is put towards thousands of dollars worth of toys for children at Christmas. With Walmart now in town, they graciously open their doors before store hours so that members of the Fire and Police Benevolent Association can "Shop till they drop."
All the toys purchased are delivered to the Marine Corps at the Woodfield Area Children’s Organization (WACO) Toys for Tots Luncheon. It is always a goal to have as many Palatine schools as possible join in.
How You Can Help
Around the holiday season you will see large boxes in the lobby of the police department for toy donations. Toys must be newly purchased and still in their packaging. With the community’s generosity, we will strive to make sure every child has a present at Christmas time.
