Palatine Police Department members, along with other village employees, have been participating in the Toys for Tots program since 1999. In conjunction with the United States Marine Corps, the Police and Fire Benevolent Association has coordinated collection sites throughout the village to collect newly purchased toys for children in need. In addition to the donated toys, raffle tickets are sold throughout the village to raise money for this worthy cause. Raffle prizes are donated by the Police and Fire Benevolent Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. The money raised through raffle ticket sales is put towards thousands of dollars worth of toys for children at Christmas. Walmart has graciously opened their doors before store hours so that members of the Police and Fire Benevolent Association can "Shop till they drop."
All toys collected throughout the village are given to the Marines, and are distributed to children throughout Chicagoland.
