Summer Camp

The Northeast Palatine Summer Camp is a unique partnership of several public and private entities coming together in the spirit of giving low-income youth in Palatine the opportunity to enjoy three full weeks of summer day camp. The goal of the camp is to provide a safe environment for at-risk youth, which includes educational, social, and recreational activities. No single agency has ownership of this program, and without the many partners, this program would not be possible. Partners that make this program possible include: The Palatine Police Department, Palatine Township, Community Consolidated School District 15, Palatine Park District, and the Palatine Opportunity Center. During the weeks of camp, the children are able to participate in safe activities like swimming, trips to the zoo and museums, attend a baseball game, host a talent show and various other fun events.

Each year police officers and other department staff offer to trade a day of "regular" work to volunteer at the summer camp as a counselor. Employees assist on the trips, supervise the activities and participate in group projects. There is a large sense of community for police department employees especially when the kids return each year eager to be part of the camp.

How You Can Help

You can help this worthy cause by supporting all of the above listed organizations throughout the year. Without their financial support the camp would be impossible to keep up.
