Welcome to Police Beat 8160. I am Sergeant Angelo Calanca, the primary contact and Beat Coordinator of 8160. I was hired by the Palatine Police Department in 1998 and have spent my entire career in patrol, assigned to 8160. Prior to being promoted, I also served as a Field Training Officer, Department Instructor and a Tactical Operator on the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System - Emergency Services Team. I am currently assigned as an afternoon shift supervisor working from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Location

Beat 8160 is located in the Northeast portion of Palatine and is roughly bordered by Hicks Road to the West, Dundee Road to the North, Rand Road, Williams Drive and Rohlwing Road to the East and Baldwin Road to the South. Beat 8160 covers portionsLake Recreation Area of council districts 3, 4, 5, and 6 and is home of Palatine High School, Virginia Lake School and Palatine Fire Department Station 82. Beat 8160 also contains an array of retail and restaurant options, located off of Dundee and Rand Roads.

Mission

It is our mission to preserve the peace and community feel of Palatine by providing professional police services to this beat. The officers assigned to 8160 are veteran officers who have a great deal of experience and knowledge, to include:

This is accomplished by regular patrol responsibilities but also by meeting with residents in Neighborhood Watch Groups, attending block parties and by maintaining a close relationship with school officials and their resources.
