Streamlining Community Development with the CSS Portal

The Village of Palatine’s online Citizen Self-Service (CSS) portal provides residents, contractors, and business owners with a convenient way to access community development services. Through the CSS portal, users can search for property information, apply for permits and licenses, request inspections, and more.

The portal also allows users to start and save applications for permits or plans, submit them at a later time, and track their status with real-time updates.

This online platform enhances accessibility and streamlines communication, reducing the need for phone calls or office visits while keeping residents and businesses actively engaged in the community development process.

Permits/Contractor Registration

• Permits are available exclusively on CSS. 
• Contractor registration is available exclusively on CSS. 

Registration Set Up

• We recommend using a general email address so your company only has one online account. Multiple team members can be added as contacts for your company during setup. 
  • Example: permits@yourcompany.com
• Property Owners can use their personal email address.

Village Hall Hours

The Village Hall is open to the public Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM. 

Permit Types

The Village of Palatine offers two types of permits: Express or Standard

Express permits are for smaller detached single-family home projects specifically listed. Our goal is to have these reviewed in 5 business days. 

Standard permits are for larger projects, demolition, permanent signs, new homes or additions and all commercial and multi-family projects. Our goal is to have these reviewed in 10-15 business days. 

A pre-submittal meeting is no longer required due to the availability of digital applications; however, it is available for those who wish to meet and discuss their project in person. To schedule a pre-submittal meeting, please contact the Building Department at 847-359-9042.
