Contractor Registration
Streamlining Community Development with the CSS Portal
The Village of Palatine’s online Customer Self-Service (CSS) portal provides residents, contractors, and business owners with a convenient way to access community development services. Through the CSS portal, users can search for property information, apply for permits and licenses, request inspections, and more.
The portal also allows users to start and save applications for permits or plans, submit them at a later time, and track their status with real-time updates.
This online platform enhances accessibility and streamlines communication, reducing the need for phone calls or office visits while keeping residents and businesses actively engaged in the community development process.
All contractor registrations must be submitted on-line through the Citizen Self Service (CSS) portal.

Renovation, Repair & Painting
In April 2010, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA) new rule, the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule, requires contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 to be certified by the USEPA and to follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.
